The North Carolina Coastal Federation (NCCF) is the state's only nonprofit organization focused exclusively on protecting and restoring the coast of North Carolina through education, advocacy, restoration, and public information. NCCF headquarters is located in Ocean between Morehead City and Swansboro. Located on Highway 24 across from Patsy Pond, featuring three miles of nature trails, the offices are open to the public 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and provide information displays, a nature gift shop, a nature library, seashell exhibit and learning center.

The Coastal Federation maintains two Nature Trails in Carteret County, which are open to the public every day during daylight hours. The Patsy Pond Nature Trail in the Croatan National Forest is located directly across from headquarters and features long-leaf pine forest with spectacular shallow ponds. Choose to visit a globally endangered maritime forest while hiking the Hoop Pole Creek Nature Trail located in Atlantic Beach off NC Highway 58 next to the Atlantic Station Shopping Mall. Maps are available at the trailheads or online at http://www.nccoast.org/resources/fact-sheets/.

For those interested in a hands-on experience; throughout the year the Coastal Federation offers volunteer opportunities from marine debris cleanups, to oyster shell bagging, to the restoration of oyster reefs. During the summer, the Coastal Federation hosts a number of events including summer camps for kids and birding and estuary cruises from Hammocks Beach State Park, suitable for the whole family. To learn more about any of these programs, call: (252) 393-8185 or visit www.nccoast.org. If you are looking to stay up-to-date on coastal issues, be sure to sign up for the free Coastal Review Online (CRO) www.coastalreview.org, a daily, not-for-profit, news and feature service from the Coastal Federation that covers the North Carolina coast. A member of the North Carolina Press Association, CRO is an award-winning public information resource for coastal issues. Show your support for protecting the coast with the Coastal Federation attractive specialized license plate, available through the North Carolina Dept. of Motor Vehicles. Purchase of the license plate gives a $20 donation to the programs and restoration efforts of the Coastal Federation or you can give directly at: www.nccoast.org/give.
